Downtown for People Walk & Talk
September 26 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm PDT
Downtown for People is organizing to oppose the construction of a new I-405 interchange that will increase traffic and pollution in Bellevue. In a time of increasing temperatures, historic forest fires, and rising fatalities from traffic violence, building more car infrastructure is exactly the wrong choice for our climate and our safety.
In this community event, we’ll gather in front of City Hall for a half-hour to discuss the proposed interchange alternatives and their impacts on the pedestrian and cyclist experience Downtown. Then, we’ll go on a two mile walk to see the conditions on the ground, share stories of navigating the city outside a car, and brainstorm ways that the streets could be made safer and greener without building a new interchange.
Come connect with fellow climate and urbanist activists and imagine a better, safer, and greener Bellevue with us!
Masks are required for this event, but extras will be provided.
