Another month, another meetup with The Urbanist! This monthly social event is free and open to everyone. Come by if you want to meet fellow policy wonks, network, or hear from an inspirational speaker. We’ll be at the Elephant & Castle Pub on Tuesday, August 8th, 5:30-7:30 PM. You can find us in the billiards room on the lower level.

We hope to see you there! You can optionally RSVP on Facebook.

This month we’ll be joined by Scott Kubly, director of the Seattle Department of Transportation. Appointed by Mayor Ed Murray in July 2014, Kubly oversees transportation policy, capital project delivery, transportation and maintenance operations, transit and mobility improvements, and management of the City’s right of way.

He led the creation of the Move Seattle Plan, which outlines Mayor Murray’s 10-year vision for transportation in Seattle, and delivers a comprehensive strategy for connecting and enhancing the city’s many ways to travel. Kubly was also a lead architect of the voter-approved Levy to Move Seattle, which provides $930 million to improve safety, maintain streets and bridges, and invest in reliable, affordable travel options for a growing city. Kubly additionally serves as the vice president of the National Association of City Transportation Officials.
