In August, The Urbanist is pivoting its events program to focus on our endorsed candidates and the 2025 elections.
Urbanist readers likely have strong opinions about how you want our cities and region to grow – but putting those ideals into action is harder. That’s why The Urbanist is hosting a pair of training sessions on how to get involved with local campaigns, with a focus on The Urbanist’s endorsed races.
Aside from benefitting urbanist candidates, volunteering on campaigns is a good way to meet fellow urbanists, get connected with local politics, and learn how to make your voice heard. As was recently discussed on our Urbanism on the Eastside panel, several city councilmembers got their starts volunteering on campaigns. Kirkland city council candidate Kurt Dresner got his start speaking to City staff.
At our training sessions, we’ll cover how local campaigns function, why volunteers are important, and what roles are needed. Hear from representatives on Urbanist-endorsed campaigns, and get to know fellow urbanists.
If you are interested in meeting our endorsed candidates, such as candidate for King County executive Claudia Balducci and Seattle City Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck, you should buy a ticket to The Urbanist Endorsed Candidate Party on August 17th – there will be food and drink provided, and it will be a great evening of conversation and connection for urbanists across our region. Make sure to get your tickets before they run out!
