Sound Transit is rolling out new system diagrams on trains that show the next round of light rail extensions including Lynnwood Link. The diagrams implement a station numbering system and a name change for Symphony Station.

The Washington State Legislature should exempt Sound Transit from local permitting processes to avoid snags and make it easier to build light rail in public streets. This would expedite transit projects that voters have approved.

When Shoreline's south light rail station opens on August 30, two major projects intended to connect riders to the station will still be under construction. They will boost station connectivity once open.

The Low Income Housing Institute won the bid to develop Sound Transit's surplus site near U District Station. The project will bring 160 affordable homes in a 12-story tower that is slated to be the state's tallest mass timber building.

On Friday, agency officials celebrated the start of pre-revenue testing for the Lynnwood Link light rail extension. A countdown clock has ticked down to 80 days and counting to the line's grand opening on August 30.

Sound Transit needs to act to improve the auditory experience of Link light rail stations. Presently, they are an unwelcoming cacophony of announcements that are too frequent, loud, and grating.

The Sound Transit board established a new set of lower farebox recovery goals for buses and trains in a vote last month. The new targets follow the adoption of a new $3 flat fare structure for Link light rail, set to go into effect on August 30.

Starting on June 3, Sound Transit fare ambassadors will launch new inspection rounds in fare paid zones on and around platforms at some Link light rail stations.
