Urbanist Meetup with Mayoral Candidate Colleen Echohawk

March 24 @ 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm PDT

We are excited to be joined by Colleen Echohawk. She’s running for Seattle Mayor and is the executive director of Chief Seattle Club, a nonprofit homeless services organization that is currently building $100 million dollars of new affordable housing in the city for Urban Indians. Echohawk is also a member of the Seattle Community Police Commission and an enrolled member of Kithehaki Band of the Pawnee Nation and a member of the Upper Athabascan people of Mentasta Lake. If elected, she would be the first Native American mayor of Seattle, a city that is both named after an indigenous man that also voted at one point to ban native people from city limits. She will be speaking about her platform of equitable renewal, affordability and rapid rehousing, and keeping the public safe. For more on her platform, read Ashley Archibald’s interview with Echohawk. Our meetups are free, all ages, and open to everyone. The line opens a 6:15pm for networking and discussion and the speaker starts at 6:30pm.
