
The Urbanist will be co-hosting a Seattle candidate forum on June 4 along with partner organizations from inside and outside the Move All Seattle Sustainably (MASS) Coalition. The event will take place at the Centilia Cultural Center in Beacon Hill, and it kicks off at 5:30pm with snacks and mingling before hearing from candidates for Seattle City Council in D2. Citywide council candidates will share the stage at around 6:50pm, followed by Seattle Mayor candidates in the last segment.

The host are providing an ASL interpreter. The mingling hour will include banh mi sandwiches and some beverage options. Crystal Fincher, the host of the Hacks and Wonks podcast, will be moderating the forum. (Fincher also serves on The Urbanist’s board of directors.)

- Who: Join a wide coalition of advocacy and community groups for a Seattle Candidate Forum featuring candidates running to represent you as Mayor, Citywide City Councilmembers, and District 2 City Councilmember. As our city faces pressing challenges and opportunities in the years ahead, this forum is your chance to hear directly from those seeking to lead Seattle forward.
- What: This forum will focus on housing and transportation. Candidates will share their visions, policy priorities, and strategies to ensure all Seattleites have access to affordable housing, safe and sustainable transportation options, and a city that works for everyone. The forum will include moderated questions from the audience and sponsor groups.
- When: Candidates running to represent District 2 (South Seattle) will take the stage first at 6:00pm. People interested in hearing only from the candidates running to represent the entire city can plan to arrive later, at 6:45pm. Each of the three segments will last about 40 minutes.
Accessibility
The event is free and open to the public. The venue is wheelchair accessible and has an all-gender restroom. Hosts are providing an ASL sign language interpreter.

Masks are strongly encouraged when not eating or drinking. Masks will be available at check-in for guests who do not have their own and the venue’s garage doors will remain open for ventilation as much as possible. If you feel unwell for any reason, please stay home.
The forum will be filmed for those unable to attend in-person.

Getting there
- By transit: The event is on the same block as the Beacon Hill light rail station and is served by King County Metro bus routes 60, 36, and 107.
- By bike: The event is located one block from the 18th Ave Beacon Hill Greenway. Bike racks are available at the light rail station and on the east end of the Roberto Maestas Festival Street.
- Car parking: Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood.
