Ray Delahanty of CityNerd (a Youtube channel) returned to Minneapolis to make another video exploring Minnesota's Mini-Apple, and the new transportation improvements since his last visit continued to impress the former transportation engineer. For example, Metro Transit's new E Line has improved the Lake Street corridor with enhanced service meeting some bus rapid transit (BRT) characteristics.
Delahanty hailed the bike network as the best big city network in America. In addition to a remarkable off-street bike network snaking around lakes and Mississippi riverfront, Minneapolis is increasingly added excellent on-street projects adding protected bike lanes. (As a former Minneapolis resident, the FOMO is rough!) In fact, Delahanty said Minneapolis might be setting the standard for multimodal street redesigns with its Hennepin Avenue overhaul.
CityNerd fans have a chance to see him live in Washington state at the Town Hall Seattle talk we are co-hosting, with Ryan Packer moderating and two local urbanist-minded officials make guest appearances. Tickets are going fast. So, get one while you can.
