Sunday Video: Making The New York City Digital Subway Map


New York City now has a dynamic digital version of the subway map that blends the best of the classic Massimo Vignelli design with the contemporary version used. It updates as the subway network is rerouted for construction, emergencies, and alternative service and shows where trains are currently calling it at. The designers explain the process of how it was created.

This is an amazing video, because it shows all the cool new features of this digital map, that it shows information based on scale and context. Every large city should have its transit system so mapped.
