On June 10th, The Urbanist is hosting a King County Candidate Housing Forum, along with cohosts Tech4Housing, Tech4Taxes, and GotGreen. The forum will cover the races for King County Assessor and King County Council District 2, which is hotly contested with State Senator Rebecca SaldaΓ±a and Seattle Port Commission President Toshiko Hasegawa both vying for the open seat.
While not a flashy position, if you have strong opinions on land value, property taxes, and land use policy, the King County Assessor race will matter to you, as the valuations the Assessor makes impact the price of development, property taxes, and more. The forum will include two King County Assessor candidates: Shoreline City Councilmember Chris Roberts and Seattle Appraiser Rob Foxcurran.
The King County Assessor portion of the forum will begin at 6pm, and the King County D2 race will begin at 7:30pm. The event will take place at Centilia Cultural Center, conveniently next door to light rail at Beacon Hill Station. Food and water will be provided.
